Incident Centre for Election Atrocities
Election-Related Atrocities
The Incident Centre for Election Atrocities (ICEA) documents violence, hate speech and other atrocities connected with Nigeria's elections. If you witness one, report it here. You don't have to give your name.
How to report an election-related atrocity
- 1
Get to safety first
Don't confront anyone or stay somewhere that is still dangerous. If someone needs urgent help, call the emergency number 112 or the nearest police station before you report to us.
- 2
Note the details while they're fresh
Write down where it happened (state, local government area, ward or polling unit), when it happened, what you saw, who was involved and who was harmed.
- 3
Keep evidence, but only if it's safe
Photos, videos and audio recordings help, but never put yourself at risk to get them. Avoid posting them on social media first, as that can expose you and other witnesses.
- 4
Send us your report
Use the form below, or reach the ICEA on the contacts listed here. Leave out your name if you prefer. If you share a phone number or email, we may follow up.
- 5
What happens next
The ICEA checks each report against other sources and documents verified incidents in its reports and advocacy for justice. We don't publish your name or contact details.
Report an incident
Many incidents are never reported. Your report helps us count them. Questions marked * need an answer. Everything else is optional.
